Passengers rob elderly taxi driver


MELAKA: An elderly taxi driver was robbed and assaulted by four suspects, including a 26-year-old woman, after picking them up at the Tampin bus terminal in Pulau Sebang.

The 72-year-old victim was choked and beaten during the trip to Jasin, leaving him unconscious and abandoned at an oil palm estate in Rim.

He reported the incident upon regaining consciousness, stating that his wallet, belongings and taxi were stolen.

Jasin OCPD Deputy Supt Ahmad Jamil Radzi said all the suspects have a history of criminal activities related to robbery and drug offences.

Police apprehended the four of them at a hotel in Bukit Baru, where the stolen taxi was found parked.

The suspects have been remanded for investigation under Section 394 of the Penal Code.
