M'sian students who died in NZ crash laid to rest


PETALING JAYA: The two Malaysian students who died in a car crash in Christchurch, New Zealand on March 30 have been laid to rest.

In a statement on Wednesday (April 10), the Foreign Ministry said one of the students was buried in Christchurch, while the body of the other student was safely repatriated and buried in Malaysia.

The accident involved five individuals near Lake Tekapo.

“Welfare arrangements for all students involved in the accident have been completed.

"Only one student is still receiving follow-up treatment at Christchurch Hospital, while two other injured students have been discharged,” the ministry said.

It also expressed its appreciation to all parties involved, including the New Zealand government, Timaru Hospital, Christchurch Hospital, University of Canterbury, and the Malaysian community in Christchurch.

It also thanked all those who helped directly or indirectly to take care of the students' welfare.
