Five drivers test positive for meth

ALOR SETAR: Five bus drivers were found to have consumed methamphetamine during the nationwide Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri, says the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

Its senior enforcement director Datuk Lokman Jamaan said the suspects, in their 30s and 60s, were found positive in urine tests conducted before drivers started their journey.

“Two east coast-bound drivers were detained here (Shahab Perdana Bus Terminal), two were nabbed in Sarawak and one in Kelantan.

“It is sad that some are in their 60s. This was unexpected,” he told reporters during Ops Hari Raya, Bernama reported.

He said 163,558 vehicles were inspected in the week-long operations, which resulted in 1,495 vehicles being impounded and 39,066 summonses issued for various traffic offences.
