Dr Akmal released after being called back by KK police


KOTA KINABALU: Police recorded a second statement from Umno youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh.

Dr Muhamad Akmal, who initially gave his first statement to Kota Kinabalu police and was released at 12.10pm Friday (April 5), was called back for further questioning at 12.15pm just as he was about to leave the Kota Kinabalu police headquarters.

Dr Muhamad Akmal said that he was called back because the police wanted to ask him additional questions.

"They had a few more additional questions for me, I answered them," he said briefly after he left the Kota Kinabalu police headquarters at about 2.30pm.

"I thank the police for treating me well,” he added.

Following his arrest at the Kota Kinabalu airport on arrival at 10.15am, he was taken by police to the police station for his statement to be recorded.

Subsequently, he came out at 12:10 p.m. and spoke to reporters. However, as he walked towards his car, a policeman called him back to the building.
