Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal released after giving statement to KK cops

KOTA KINABALU: Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has been released after giving a statement at the police headquarters here on Friday (April 5), in connection with a seditious speech in Kelantan.

Dr Muhamad Akmal said he was surprised at being picked up by the police upon his arrival at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport as he was scheduled to give his statement at the Dang Wangi police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (April 6).

“They took about two and a half hours to record my statement, and I've cooperated. It was done professionally,” he told reporters after coming out of the police station at 12.15pm.

A small crowd of Sabah Umno Youth leaders were present at the station.

Dr Muhamad Akmal said he would be continuing with his Ramadan programme in Beaufort, about 100km from here.
