Four rescued after boat capsizes off Jelutong coast


GEORGE TOWN: All four crew members on a boat which capsized along the coast in Jelutong, near Karpal Singh Drive here have been rescued.

In a statement by the Fire and Rescue Department, rescuers from the department and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) rushed to the scene and found that the victims had been rescued by fishermen following the incident at 2.40pm today.

"We checked on the boat and found no more victims on board.

"According to the boat's owner, it had capsized after a generator on it exploded.

"All four crew on board were rescued by fishermen nearby.

"Two of the victims sustained injuries while two were unharmed, " said the department in a statement today.
