Five p-hailing riders charged with motorist's murder


PETALING JAYA: Five delivery riders have been charged with the murder of a motorist, who was allegedly dragged from his car, tied up and beaten after an accident in Semenyih last week.

Mohd Yuree Ranoff Mohd Bachuri, 41, Azharul Azuan Mohd Azan, 34, Tengku Izham Tengku Hamid, 22, Mahazir Nordin, 43, and Syamsul Qamar Ayob, 40, were brought before Magistrate Nurdiyanah Mohd Nawawi in Bangi on Tuesday (Feb 27).

However, no plea was recorded as murder falls under the purview of the High Court.

According to the charge sheet, the five are accused of murdering self-employed Shahril Samad, 41, at Jalan TPS 2/3, Taman Pelangi Semenyih 2, Beranang at 9.54pm on Feb 20, Sinar Harian reported.

The prosecution was conducted by DPP Siti Nur Liyana Mohd Sulaiman while the accused were represented by Mohamed Hafiz.

No bail was offered and the court set April 25 for the submission of forensic, chemical and autopsy reports.

During the proceedings, a man believed to be a relative of the victim shouted "Bang, kau tunggu" (Brother, just you wait) in the direction of the accused.

He was pacified by other family members before being instructed by police to leave the courtroom.

It was reported earlier that the deceased was involved in an accident near the scene but drove away.

He was reportedly seen being dragged out of his car and beaten up. His body was found later with signs that he had been bound.

Police subsequently made a number of arrests in connection with the incident.
