Cops detain man at pro-Palestine protest at US embassy

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have confirmed that they have temporarily detained a man during a memorandum handover in front of the US embassy.

Wangsa Maju OCPD Ashari Abu Samah, when contacted, confirmed the matter.

"Yes he was detained. And he was released at the scene as well.

"He was detained because of failure to adhere to police instructions," he said.

Earlier on Saturday (Feb 24) protestors from Gegar Amerika handed over a memorandum to the embassy, calling for a ceasefire in the conflict in Palestine.

Parti Sosialis Malaysia, on their Facebook, posted about the arrest earlier.

"PSM comrade Harmit Singh has been detained by the police earlier after joining an assembly next to the US Embassy to hand over the Bebaskan Palestin (Free Palestine) memorandum," it said.
