Bride upset as groom's ex attends wedding, in-laws say she 'should have been standing beside son instead'

PETALING JAYA: A wedding that took place recently should have been a joyous occasion for a beaming bride, but it took an unexpected turn when the groom's ex-girlfriend turned up as a guest.

The incident that took place locally gained widespread attention after a social media user named Farra Diana shared a story of the bride's experience, which was posted on an online chatroom.

In her post, the bride described the wedding as a mix of sweetness and bitterness, emphasising the turmoil caused by the unwanted guest.

"During the family photo session, the groom's family insisted on including the ex-girlfriend, despite the bride's objections.

"The situation escalated when the groom's father explicitly favoured the ex-girlfriend, saying: 'you should have been standing by my son's side'," she said in the post.

The bride, aware of the family's preference, was left questioning her decision to marry the groom.

This sparked a wave of reactions from netizens who criticised the groom for not defending his wife's dignity.

Many also questioned the ex-girlfriend's decision to attend the wedding in the first place.
