Tanjung Surat rep sworn in as new Johor exco member, portfolio still unclear

JOHOR BARU: Tanjung Surat assemblyman Aznan Tamin has been appointed as a new state executive councilor.

His swearing-in ceremony was held at Istana Bukit Serene's Audience Hall on Tuesday (Feb 13) before Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim.

As of press time, it is still unclear what portfolio he will be taking or whether this means any existing executive committee members will be dropped.

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi is expected to give an official statement soon.

On Sunday (Feb 11), Onn Hafiz Ghazi confirmed there will be a reshuffle of the Johor executive committee after two years of his administration.

He said that an official announcement of the reshuffle of state executive committee is expected to be made by next week.

“There will be a reshuffle of portfolios but it is only at a minimum level. We are doing this to make the state government affairs stronger,” he added.

The Star had reported Onn Hafiz as saying that he will be taking over the state tourism portfolio, indicating a reshuffle of the Johor executive committee.

During a Chinese New Year gathering with Chinese leaders at his official residence here, Onn Hafiz also told the crowd that he would be taking over the tourism portfolio.

"We just made slight changes to our portfolios. After this, I, as Mentri Besar, will take care of tourism," he said.
