Senior citizen hurt in Tmn Muda snatch theft


AMPANG: A senior citizen has been injured in a snatch theft in front of a Taman Muda restaurant.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the 72-year-old woman was walking to a shop when a man on a motorcycle snatched her gold necklace from behind before escaping at about 5pm on Saturday (Feb 10).

"This caused the victim to fall.

"She suffered a broken right arm and bruises on her neck," he said in a statement on Monday (Feb 12).

The case has been classified under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt during a robbery, he said.

"We urge those with information on the case to contact Ampang Jaya district police headquarters or any nearest police station," he said.

Two police personnel from the Ampang Jaya mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) unit rushed to the scene to give the victim assistance.

They called an ambulance and also contacted the victim's family to inform them of the incident.
