Foreigner arrested in KL after RM40,000 drugs seizure

KUALA LUMPUR: Over RM40,000 in drugs were seized, and an arrest was made after a narcotics raid here.

Sentul police chief Asst Comm Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari, in a press conference on Thursday (Feb 8), said that an investigation into a drug distribution ring led to the arrest of a foreigner in Taman Wilayah, off Jalan Ipoh on Feb 3.

Among the items seized during the arrest include seven boxes of suspected codeine, with an estimated weight of 10,082ml and around 824g of Yaba pills.

"The suspect, aged 50, was then brought to the police district headquarters. He has been remanded until Feb 10," he said.

The estimated value of the drugs seized was put at RM45,140.

When asked about the source of the drugs, ACP Sukarno said that the suspect had received it from a friend from Thailand.

He added that Thai police had also arrested the person in question on Feb 2.

Investigations are ongoing to locate other members of the drug ring.
