PETALING JAYA: The Education Ministry's integrity unit has been directed to take further action over the death of 11-year-old Nur Qaira Alisha Ahmad 'Ilwan, a pupil at a primary school in Kedah, says Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek.
In a Facebook post on Thursday (Aug 27), the Education Minister said the Kedah Education Department had conducted an investigation into the complaint lodged by the late pupil's family.
"I have also directed the integrity unit to take further action in accordance with applicable laws and.
"I am deeply saddened by the passing of the late Nur Qaira Alisha. I extend my condolences to her parents and the entire family on this profound loss," she said.
Fadhlina also said that the ministry takes all matters concerning the safety and well-being of pupils seriously.
"The ministry's current priority is to ensure that the family is given the sufficient space and support as they cope with this loss," she added.
Her statement follows a Facebook post by a person claiming to be the late pupil's mother, which went viral on Aug 16.
She alleged that a teacher had instructed her daughter, who has a heart condition, to take part in a run despite a letter confirming her medical condition.
Nur Qaira died on Wednesday (Aug 26).
