PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is doing everything he can to get a full pardon for Datuk Seri Najib Razak, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

The Umno supreme council member said the party and its president are completely focused on getting a full pardon for the former prime minister, who still has a chance to get a total pardon.

"The Umno president has done a lot on this matter and not all can be told to the public. Yesterday, at the supreme council meeting, Ahmad Zahid clarified everything that was done for Najib to get a full pardon.

"This evening Ahmad Zahid will explain all the efforts done to the 191 Umno division leaders, Wanita heads, Puteri heads and Wanita heads and exco members at Dewan Tun Hussein Onn at the World Trade Centre," Sinar Harian quoted the Pontian MP as saying on Sunday (Feb 4).

Ahmad Maslan, who is the deputy Works Minister, also denied allegations that there were efforts to overthrow Ahmad Zahid by Umno division heads.

"(This is) not true, it's just some 'poking' by certain quarters to divide Umno. The meeting on Sunday (Feb 4) evening was a result of the discussion from the Umno supreme council meeting on Friday (Feb 2).

"The meeting today is important to clarify our stand on the full pardon and the efforts taken by Umno.

It was reported on Saturday that Umno would appeal for a full pardon to the new King.
