Umno leaders arrive for closed-door meeting with Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno leaders have arrived at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur for a closed-door session with party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on Sunday (Feb 4).

It was announced that Ahmad Zahid would address Umno division leaders on the recent sentence reduction for former party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Among the top guns seen arriving for the meeting were Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad and Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan.

In a statement on Saturday (Feb 3), the supreme council said it respected the Pardons Board decision but would continue the fight to ensure Najib is released from prison.

On Friday (Feb 2), the Pardons Board announced that it had decided to commute Najib's jail term from 12 years to six, with a release date of Aug 23, 2028, and to reduce his fine from RM210mil to RM50mil.
