Political leaders pledge loyalty to Sultan Ibrahim

PETALING JAYA: Leaders from across the political divide have showered the newly-appointed King of Malaysia, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim with congratulatory messages.

They also expressed hope that His Majesty would continue to strengthen the royal institution and were confident that the nation would enjoy unity and long-lasting prosperity under His Majesty’s reign.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the people and he would continue pledging unwavering loyalty to Sultan Ibrahim.

“We pray that His Majesty and the entire Royal Institution will be showered with blessings and always be in good health and wellness,” he said in a Facebook post.

Anwar added that the government fully supported and welcomed His Majesty’s previous decrees in wanting to see the country continue good governance, transparency, spurring a sustainable economy while giving full attention to efforts in elevating the people.

“These are also the wishes of millions of Malaysians in wanting to see the nation’s stability for prosperity and well-being, as well as opportunities and a better future for all,” he said yesterday.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the personality and character of Sultan Ibrahim had always been admired by the people.

“In my capacity as the Deputy Prime Minister, and Rural and Regional Development Minister, I alongside ministry staff congratulate His Majesty on being appointed as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“I pray that His Majesty and Her Majesty will always be in good health and continue leading the country with wisdom, for the people,” he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the appointment of Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th King would continue to strengthen the royal institution, adding that His Majesty would lead the country wisely.

“I, along with ministry staff, pledge full allegiance, and will serve the King and country with full dedication,” he said.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong also conveyed congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah.

“Daulat Tuanku. Congratulations to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah,” Dr Wee said in a Facebook post.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri expressed confidence that Malaysia could achieve progress locally and internationally under His Majesty’s reign.

“We at the ministry will always strive to provide the best services for the people under the King’s rule,” she said.

Opposition leader and Perikatan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin congratulated the royal couple and pledged loyalty to Their Majesties.

“All Perikatan MPs and myself have full confidence that through His Majesty’s reign, Malaysia will receive even more blessings, and enjoy the fruits of unity and prosperity. Daulat Tuanku,” he said.
