Anwar congratulates Sultan Ibrahim on appointment as 17th King


PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has conveyed his congratulations to the newly appointed Yang di-Pertuan Agong His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim King of Malaysia and his wife, Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofia Queen of Malaysia.

“The people and I will continue pledging unwavering obedience and loyalty to His Majesty.

“We pray His Majesty and the entire Royal Institution will be showered with blessings and always be in good health, wellness and sovereignty.

“Daulat Tuanku!” Anwar said in a social media post on Wednesday (Jan 31).

Earlier Wednesday, Sultan Ibrahim was sworn in as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia in a ceremony at Istana Negara's Balairung Seri (Throne Room).

His Majesty succeeds Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Mustafa Billah Shah who was the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia.
