Warehouse lots in Kepong Baru razed in morning blaze


KUALA LUMPUR: Two lots at a warehouse here caught on fire after an early morning blaze.

The city Fire and Rescue Department said that a distress call regarding the fire at Jalan Helang Bukit in Kepong Baru was received at 6.23am.

"The Manjalara, Sri Hartamas, Wangsa Maju, Jinjang, Sentul, Jalan Hang Tuah, Cheras and Gombak Selatan fire stations collectively deployed around 70 firefighters in total to combat the fire.

"At the scene, lot 10 and lot 12 of the warehouse were burnt. The fire destroyed half of the first lot while 80% of the second lot was burnt," said the department in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 30).

The department said defensive and offensive firefighting procedures were used to prevent the fire from spreading.

The fire was brought under control at 10.19am with it being fully extinguished by 12.43pm.

“The quick action helped save two nearby lots. No victims were involved and the cause of the fire is still under investigation,” the department said.
