Muhammad Sanusi at MACC HQ to give statement

PUTRAJAYA: Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters here for his statement to be recorded in relation to the alleged RM6mil corruption involving the state football club.

It is learnt that he arrived at 8.30am on Thursday (Jan 11) and the questioning process has just begun.

On Tuesday (Jan 9), it was reported that graft investigators were expected to call a Mentri Besar over the matter.

On Friday (Jan 5) last week, four individuals including the chief executive officer of the Kedah Football Association (KFA) were remanded as graft officers probed allegations that they sought and accepted bribes amounting to more than RM6mil.

On Monday (Jan 8), news reports quoted Muhammad Sanusi alleging that he was the target in accusations of corruption in KFA.

Muhammad Sanusi, the KFA president, claimed the recent arrest of the four individuals was only to create a case that painted a poor picture of his administration.

"I am the actual target. For months, they have been looking for a case against me. (But) you can see the truth. Sanusi has no case (against him).

"But they still create one, including this perception that there is a lot of corruption going on in Kedah. Even football (here) also has corruption," he was reported to have said.

He also said law enforcement agencies should not be used as a tool to bring down those belonging to different political factions from the unity government.
