Sabah Education Department outlines nine focuses on education for 2024

KOTA KINABALU: Nine focuses are outlined for the Sabah Education Department as it targets to elevate the quality of education in the state in 2024.

Sabah Education Department director Datuk Raisin Saidin said the focus had been identified for implementation this year.

"Among the focus is to implement a 'Quality Academic Delivery' to ensure the delivery of the national curriculum from pre-school to form six is effective and with quality.

"The department will also focus on access to quality education that will increase access to education for all students starting from pre-school to upper secondary, covering government and private educational institutions.

"It will also include improving the quality of education for students with special needs," he said in a post on the Sabah State Education Director's Office Facebook Page on Tuesday (Jan 2).

He said the other focus was to strengthen and encourage students' "love to gain knowledge that they will adopt to become a practice in their life".

Raisin also said that the focus was also on creating a digitally literate generation by integrating digital technology into lessons.

He said that they would make efforts to provide equipment and network infrastructure to improve digital mastery among school children during the year.

"The department will also focus on zero non-compliance in assessment and examinations, especially areas that can affect candidates' results, especially in the SPM and STPM examinations," he added.

Other emphasis includes strengthening quality culture within its human resource management.

"A culture of integrity, innovation and competitiveness capable of realising educational goals in addition to strengthening the integrity of all members of the state Education Department," he added.

He said that financial management of budget allocation would also ensure monies allocated would be spent optimally based on financial procedures.

Raisin also said that focus would be given to upgrading dilapidated schools, new schools and additional school dormitories identified under the 12th Malaysia Plan to be implemented.
