MACC working to stay relevant and effective in 2024, says Azam Baki

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Azam Baki is determined to ensure the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) remains relevant, effective and contributes positively to the nation next year.

The chief commissioner said the MACC could be more successful in 2024 through hard work and improvement in key areas.

"Starting 2024, there are several focuses and aims that I will look upon to ensure the commission remains relevant and effective.

"It is not just to assist the nation in achieving zero corruption but also assisting in reducing leakages of funds and improving the nation's economy," he said in a video message of his New Year's address on Sunday (Dec 31).

He reminded all in MACC that the new year could also bring about new challenges but it was important for them to rise to the occasion.

"We may be facing several challenges and demands of new tasks next year and all of them require change in thinking, working and acting.

"It is of utmost importance for us to change, explore the new and leave behind the old as well as improve on past mistakes and stay away from the wrong," he said.

Azam said all in the MACC should increase their level of integrity, skills and knowledge so that everyone could achieve MACC's mission and vision.

"Happy New Year to all in MACC and all Malaysians," he said.
