EPF CEO Amir Hamzah sworn in as Senator at Dewan Negara


KUALA LUMPUR: Employees Provident Fund (EPF) chief executive officer Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan has been sworn in as a Senator.

He took his oath of office before Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar on Tuesday (Dec 12) morning.

Amir Hamzah has been tipped to be appointed as the Finance Minister II in the much-anticipated Cabinet reshuffle today.

Dr Zulkifli Hasan has also been appointed a senator

He is the former dean of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia's faculty of Syariah and Law.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim earlier confirmed that an announcement on the reshuffle will be made at 11am.

The Cabinet formed by the unity government in December last year consists of 28 ministers and 27 deputy ministers, including the Prime Minister and two Deputy Prime Ministers.

The portfolio of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister became vacant following the death of Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub on July 23.
