PETALING JAYA: There is no "wow factor" in the reshuffled Cabinet as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is still the Finance Minister, said Datuk Razali Idris.
The Bersatu information chief said a technocrat like new Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan might be in a dilemma if he does not give in to political demands of the Prime Minister.
"Even though there is a Finance Minister II, the absolute power is still with the Finance Minister. This might cause an overlap of powers and instructions (from two ministers) which will lead to bureaucracy of power – a headache for the Finance Ministry.
"Although Amir may have a track record of success with GLCs such as Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Petronas and Malaysian International Shipping Company, the former Employees Provident Fund CEO needs to have strong willpower to face the politicians in the government he is now part of.
"There is no wow factor in the reshuffled Cabinet. We will wait to see the old and the new coming together," said Razali.
He was commenting on the new Cabinet line-up announced by Anwar on Tuesday (Dec 12) morning.
