Delivery rider arrested for having fake police authority card


AMPANG: A 47-year-old food delivery rider was detained in Taman Melawati for possessing a police authority card that is believed to be fake.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said a police patrol stumbled upon the man, who was acting suspiciously at Lorong Sabah in the housing estate at about 11.15am on Saturday (Dec 2).

"Police personnel discovered the fake authority card after checking the suspect. He also has a criminal record with four prior offences and tested negative for drugs," he said in a statement Sunday (Dec 3).

The suspect has since been remanded until Wednesday (Dec 6), he said.

"We are investigating under Section 89 of the Police Act 1967,which carries a maximum fine of RM500 or not more than six months imprisonment or both upon conviction," he said.
