Cops tracking person who stabbed hawker in Ipoh


IPOH: The police are tracking down the customer who stabbed a hawker selling noodles at a restaurant here with a knife.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said the incident occurred at about 6am on Saturday (Dec 2) at a restaurant in Taman Cemerlang Rapat.

“The victim is a 44-year-old man who runs a stall inside the restaurant. He suffered injuries to his stomach after being stabbed with a knife by the unknown customer," he said.

ACP Yahaya added that the victim is in a stable condition after undergoing surgery at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.

He added that the police came across photos and videos of the incident that had gone viral on social media, and said that a police report has since been lodged.

ACP Yahaya then said that the case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing injury using a weapon.

“We are also seeking assistance from the public who have any information over the incident to come forward,” he added.
