SEPANG: Swift police action stops hooligans from inflicting more violence and vandalism before a football match between Selangor and Perak.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the incident happened near the MBPJ Stadium on Saturday (Nov 25) prior to the Malaysian Super League match.

He said the police saw five Selangor supporters being attacked by a group of men that emerged from two black buses parked near the stadium.

He said the men were also responsible for damaging four cars in the area.

"This seemed premeditated. They came with ill intentions. The police quickly spotted what they were doing, and we stopped them.

"Both buses and suspects caught were brought to the Petaling Jaya police headquarters," said Comm Hussein after a community policing motorcycle ride to the Sepang police headquarters on Sunday (Nov 26).

The police arrested 20 men aged 16 to 36. One of the suspects was found to be wanted by police in connection to a murder case in Kajang.

Three more had other criminal and drug-related offences, while twelve suspects also tested positive for drugs.

All suspects have been remanded until Nov 29.

"The police are also hunting two more suspects and investigating the group leader who planned the attack," he said.

In an unrelated matter, Comm Hussein said that the cause of death of the man who was found tied up and burnt near Lombong D'island in Puchong on Saturday (Nov 25) was burn wounds.

"We initially opened the investigation as a murder case, but further information that we have obtained has led us to reclassify it based on statements by family members and witnesses.

"The time of death has been placed to be sometime early Saturday, and we have a witness that spotted the fire around that same time frame," he said.
