Lahad Datu police appeal for public information into murder


KOTA KINABALU: Police are seeking public assistance in their investigation into the murder of a mother of five in Lahad Datu.

The body of the 36-year-old woman was found half-naked in a bush at a banana farm at Kampung Pisang on Tuesday (Nov 14).

There were also injuries on her head believed to have been caused by a blunt object, and her throat was also slashed.

Lahad Datu OCPD Asst Comm Dr Rohan Shah Ahmad said they are still in the midst of piecing together the events that led to the murder.

“Efforts are underway to locate the suspect,” he said, when contacted on Wednesday (Nov 15).

“Those with information in connection with this case are encouraged to call the police immediately,” he added.

Police on Tuesday had also not ruled out the possibilt the victim was also raped after finding semen on her body.

The woman was reported to have gone out at 6.15am on Tuesday, taking a pathway through the banana farm which was her usual route to work and back from the restaurant where she worked as roti canai maker.

Her employer contacted a family member after she failed to turn up at work.

Suspecting something amiss, relatives of the victim then went out to look for her and made the tragic discovery at the farm.

Her mobile phone was also missing while there was no cash found in her purse that was located at the scene. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
