We know how to govern, say Perikatan state MBs

SHAH ALAM: The four Perikatan Nasional Mentris Besar say that they run Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Perlis efficiently and fairly.

The four were Datuk Mohd Shukri Ramli (Perlis), Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar (Terengganu), Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud (Kelantan) and Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor (Kedah).

They were speaking at an after-event following the first day of the 69th PAS muktamar, with a crowd braving the muddy field to listen to speeches that ended late at night in front of the IDCC Convention Centre here on Friday (Oct 20).

Mohd Shukri said he has managed to win over the civil servants of Perlis through dialogues.

"We won 14 seats in a state which never had enough money and always depended on the Federal Government.

"We persevered despite threats to stop our funding. However, we have enough rice to feed our state.

"Barisan Nasional ruled the state for decades, but we have won over the state and its people despite it being our first time running the state," he said.

Terengganu's Ahmad Samsuri, the State Government 4 (SG4) grouping spokesman, said it is time the Federal Government got its priorities right.

"When we take over a state, it is akin to entering a prettily painted house only to discover that it lacks everything.

"We need to prioritise what is important first. Running a state government is limited by our budget; we need to weigh the needs of the people and what can wait to be fixed.

"The Federal Government today, however, is not only weighing the problems in the country but busy with leaders who only travel and talk. In the end, the people suffer," said Ahmad Samsuri.
