Flash floods hit several main roads in KL


KUALA LUMPUR: Heavy rain has caused flash floods along several main roads here.

According to Astro Radio Traffic, affected roads include Jalan Damansara, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Travers, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Pantai Baharu, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim, Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar, Jalan Maarof, Jalan Pahang, Jalan Kuching and Jalan Kepong.

Several lanes along roads were impassable due to stagnant water.

Motorists along these routes can expect travel delays.

Flash floods were also reported in Kampung Periok here.

According to the City Fire and Rescue Department, a total of 19 people were affected and a team from the Titiwangsa fire station was deployed to the scene at 5pm.

"Firefighters have moved the affected victims to a temporary evacuation centre at Sekolah Menengah Puteri Wilayah," it said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 10).

A total of four senior citizens and seven children were among the 19 that were evacuated out.
