Body found at Melaka's Pantai Puteri identified


MELAKA: The body recovered on the beach of Pantai Puteri in Tanjung Kling here has been identified.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the deceased, a 23-year-old worker from Myanmar, was employed at a factory in Ayer Keroh here since 2017.

"The body was identified by four female co-workers of the deceased comprising a local and three others from Myanmar.

"Police will proceed with a DNA test to confirm the information," he said on Friday(Sept 29).

ACP Christopher Patit said the case has been classified as sudden death.

It would be reclassified if there elements of crime were detected later, he added.

On Sept 24, a female body was found washed up the shore of Pantai Puteri by beachgoers at 8am.

Police said the body was buried under the sand and the victim is believed to have died hours before being found.

There were no visible signs of injuries on the body, the cops added.
