SUNGAI PETANI: A 78-year-old grandfather and his one year, seven month old grandson were found drowned in a pool near a restaurant here at Taman Kempas on Monday (Sept 11).

Kuala Muda OCPD Asst Comm Zaidy Che Hassan said, police received a MERS 999 call from the public who had informed them about the discovery of the two bodies at about 7.20pm.

He said a team of police officers and personnel from Tikam Batu police station rushed to the scene and arrived at 7.28pm and found both victims floating in the one-metre deep pool.

"Based on the information, the eyewitness said he saw many people converge at the pool.

"And when he found out that there were two bodies floating in the pool, he called MERS 999," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 12).

ACP Zaidy said the bodies of the victims were retrieved from the pool with the help from the public in the area.

ACP Zaidy said an interview with the father of the boy found that his father always took his son for a walk every day after fetching the boy from his mother who worked in a restaurant at Jalan Kempas.
