Five police reports lodged over TikTok video urging people to rally on Sept 16

KUALA LUMPUR: Five police reports have been lodged over a TikTok video urging people to gather in front of the Sogo shopping centre here on Sept 16.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said that an investigation paper has been opened.

"The police have recorded the statements of two individuals to assist investigations and four more will provide their statements soon.

"The police urge the people not to be involved in assemblies that do not adhere to the law. Action will be taken agaisnt those involved," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 12).

The gathering planned for Sept 16 is to protest Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) on 47 graft charges.

Previously, Perikatan Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said they would hold a peaceful assembly on Sept 16 as part of its "Save Malaysia Movement" (Gerakan Selamatkan Malaysia).

On Sept 4, High Court judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah upheld the prosecution's application for a DNAA, which cited 11 reasons for the application.

A DNAA means an accused can face trial for the same charges in the future if the prosecution so decides.
