Bukit Aman confirms taking statement from Muhyiddin

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has confirmed that its investigators have taken a statement from Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said they questiond Muhyiddin over an alleged statement made during a ceramah at Johor that it was "haram" or sinful to vote for Pakatan Harapan's Pulai parliamentary seat candidate Suhaizan Kaiat.

"The statement-taking process has been completed in this case and we will hand over the investigation paper to the Attorney General's Chambers as soon as possible.

"The case is being investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act for making statements with intent to cause fear or alarm to the public or induce a person to commit an offence against the State or against public tranquillity and misuse of networking facilities," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Sept 12).

Meanwhile, Razarudin said investigators are expected to see Muhyiddin again this Thursday ( Sept 14) over another alleged statement made in Simpang Jeram.

"That investigation has been classified under Section 4A(1) of the Election Offences Act," he said.

During a ceremah at Simpang Jeram Muhyiddin allegedly claimed that the Malays no longer controlled the government.

A 29-minute video of the ceramah was sighted on Facebook.
