THE ginger cat known as Oyen found injured at the site of the air crash in Elmina township has died, according to Harian Metro.

Veterinarian Dr Zul Erwan Azmi, who had been treating Oyen at his clinic, broke the sad news in an Instagram post on Sunday.

“It is with a heavy heart I inform that Oyen from the crash site has died.

“Oyen was positive with the FIV virus (feline AIDS), which affected its immune system,” he said.

He said the cat’s injury on its backbone caused the disease to spread faster and worsened to the point that the cat could not be saved.

Dr Zul thanked everyone who had prayed for the cat.

On Aug 17, Oyen, found injured at the air crash site that killed 10 people, was rescued by Health Ministry officials and sent to the veterinary clinic.

> Sinar Harian reported that social media influencer Khairul Aming, 31, had won the People’s Choice: Creator Of The Year award at the TikTok Awards Malaysia 2023.

During the awards, Khairul – whose real name is Khairul Amin Kamarulzaman – said his path to success was not easy, adding that it took a great deal of time to produce creative content.

He said his award was a reflection of eight years’ worth of hard work and he wished his late father could have celebrated the moment with him.

“My father would be proud if he was here because I’ve worked hard these past eight years.

“Thank you to my mother, late father and my team,” he said during the award ceremony on Sunday.

Last Wednesday, Khairul received 1.3 million votes to lead the list of finalists for the People’s Choice: Creator Of The Year category. The event was the biggest award show to date organised by TikTok to celebrate outstanding content from creators of various fields and backgrounds.

Khairul also advised young influencers to never stop learning.

“To all the young people who want to be content creators, never stop learning because creating social media content isn’t just about trying to go viral.

“You need to be knowledgeable, critically-minded, ethical and have good problem-solving skills to be relevant in the industry.”
