5G Rahmah packages available to all Malaysians from Aug 31 to Dec 31, says Fahmi

PUTRAJAYA: The public will be able to enjoy 5G services at affordable rates with the launch of the 5G Rahmah package, says Fahmi Fadzil (pic).

The package offer will be available from Aug 31 to Dec 31, 2023, where the bundled device offered will be priced at not more than RM240.

Under the package, two types of phones are offered - Samsung A14 5G and Honor 90 Lite 5G.

The package will see users paying a monthly commitment as low as RM60 a month for a minimum of 60GB of data, and the initiative was launched by the Communications and Digital Minister on Tuesday (Aug 29).

He also said the package is open to all Malaysians and that the first 100,000 people from the B40 income group would enjoy a subsidy of RM120 for the devices.

"This is to further assist those in the group to own a 5G device," he said.

He said on top of this, the phones will be under a warranty for 24 months.

Fahmi also said phones purchased under the 5G Rahmah package would have a contract of 24 months.

Fahmi said for the media, a rebate of a month's bill would be given to personnel registered with the Information Department.

This will involve some 10,000 media practitioners.

"Talks with telcos are still ongoing to see how we can come up with initiatives to benefit the media," he added.

Civil servants with postpaid services will enjoy a RM10 monthly rebate for 12 months for existing and new registrations.
