Elmina plane crash: US aviation investigators, experts to inspect wreckage on Aug 21

SHAH ALAM: Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) officials and aviation experts from the United States will inspect the wreckage of the crashed Beechcraft 390 Premier 1 aircraft at Persiaran Elmina on Monday (Aug 21).

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim, when contacted, said these officials would inspect the aircraft wreckage as part of the investigation into the cause of the crash.

"On our end, police have finished removing all the human remains and personal belongings.

"The cockpit voice recorder (CVR) has also been retrieved and all evidence at the scene has been tagged," he said adding that the wreckage would be under 24-hour police surveillance until investigators arrive at the scene on Monday.

Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue Department Shah Alam Zone deputy chief Samsol Maarof Saibani said the crash site at Persiaran Elmina has been cleared.

"The search operations for human remains and aircraft debris has been ordered to stand down by police.

"Fire and Rescue Department personnel used three Fire Engines to clean the road in both directions.

"After the road was cleared, we will be given clearance by the police to reopen all lanes of the road today evening," he told reporters at the scene.

He said the oil and fuel that was spilled on the road have been completely cleaned up.

Ten people, including eight onboard a light aircraft, were killed after it crashed near the Elmina township in Selangor.

A car driver and a motorcyclist were also killed on the ground during the impact.
