State polls: Bus was ferrying cops, not phantom voters, says Kedah police chief

PETALING JAYA: A bus seen in a viral video was ferrying police personnel from other states to Kuala Muda, Kedah and not phantom voters as claimed, says Kedah police chief Comm Datuk Fisol Salleh.

"We can verify that the bus in the video was actually ferrying police personnel from other states to assist us for the state election.

"We urge people to stop speculating on the matter as it could threaten public order," he said in a statement on Saturday (Aug 12).

In an unrelated matter, Comm Fisol said police had detected another video circulating on social media of a woman who was allegedly unhappy with Election Commission (EC) personnel assisting her husband to mark his ballot paper.

"In the video, the woman claimed that EC personnel did not mark her husband's ballot paper as he wanted.

"However, we have yet to receive any police report on the matter from either party. We urge those involved to lodge a report to facilitate an investigation," he said.

On another matter, Comm Fisol said police are looking for a man who allegedly took a photo while at a voting stream.

"The picture is of a man showing his finger already dipped in ink while showing a marked ballot paper," he said, adding that police are trying to identify the person involved.
