PETALING JAYA: PKR’s Juwairiya Zulkifli will be given a direct line to the Prime Minister’s Department if she wins in Hulu Kelang, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“I can’t promise a lot because this is the state election campaign. But if Juwairiya becomes the assemblyman, I will give her direct access to the JPM to address issues,” said Anwar during a ceramah at Hulu Kelang on Sunday (Aug 6).

Anwar added that this was because he appreciated Juwairiya’s services to the party.

He said that Juwairiya was supposed to contest at another seat, adding that it was instead decided that she would contest in Hulu Kelang instead to teach a lesson to former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, who will also be contesting in the same seat.

“We must win this seat and we must put a leader who can break Azmin. We want locals in Hulu Kelang to teach a lesson to traitors,” said Anwar.

Anwar then cited the story of Si Kitol and Raja Mendeliar in the Malay Annals.

“Raja Mendeliar and Si Kitol left the struggle for the spoils of positions. When he (Azmin) was the minister, he was plotting with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on how to stall the power transition to me,” said Anwar.

“The Malay Annals said that those who betray, such as Si Kitol, will be punished by impalement, their house will be burnt,” added Anwar.

Juwairiya will be taking on Azmin in a straight fight in Hulu Kelang.
