Zambry: We’re working as a team to win big in Penang

BALIK PULAU: Penang Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan are working as a team to ensure a big win in the state polls next week, says Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir.

The Barisan Nasional secretary-general said that he was satisfied with the spirit shown by the Barisan and Pakatan machinery when campaigning.

“We are working as a team, and I am confident it will have a fruitful outcome in this state election,” he told reporters during the meet-the-people session at the fishermen’s market in Sungai Pinang yesterday.

Zambry, also the Foreign Minister, accompanied Barisan candidate Ahmad Zaki Shah Shah Headan, the son of a former assemblyman, who is vying for the Teluk Bahang seat.

Penang Barisan, particularly Umno, has fielded its candidates in six seats in the state election.

Zambry added that compared to the previous elections, Umno and Barisan had contested solo, but this was the first time they worked together with Pakatan under the unity pact.

He also said that Barisan has fielded new faces in the state elections as part of its transformation and renewal efforts under the coalition.

Asked about the so-called “green wave”, often associated with PAS sweeping Penang, he said it was just a psywar tactic used by certain parties.

He said that the most important thing for the coalition, especially Umno’s machinery, was to build solidarity and have full confidence on the candidates fielded in the state polls.

“I am confident, in the context of Penang, it is very unlikely to happen, especially when we look at the spirit shown by all parties, including our partners Pakatan,” he said.
