PETALING JAYA: After the authorities arrested a businessman on Monday for questioning over his personal finances, social media was abuzz with a purported show of opulence from a man who was always seen wearing flashy outfits.

What can be seen from the Internet are pictures of multimillion-ringgit supercars to expensive watches.

On social media pages that are believed to have belonged to the businessman and his businesses, numerous videos and photos depict his affluent lifestyle.

One photo shows him in designer clothes being escorted by guards in suits and sunglasses.

Another shows him having a celebrity signing gold bars during a launch event.

Social media users have also taken an interest in his display of wealth, with some highlighting a watch that can be seen in several of his photos and videos.

One post listed the watch that was seen on his hand as costing millions of ringgit.

Other posts on his social media pages paint him as a globe-trotting businessman, with photos taken at the World Cup in Qatar last year and other playgrounds for the rich and famous.

His ties to celebrities and well-known figureheads in Malaysia were clearly on display, with numerous pictures all over his social media pages.

Other pictures show him mingling with famous Indian actors and singers who were brought to Malaysia, with him ferrying them around in luxury cars.

The pictures also show him as a collector of numerous luxury cars, including a Ferrari and a Lamborghini.

Checks showed that he has his hand in many businesses, apart from entertainment.

They include a gold trading business, as well as retail and sundry outlets overseas.

However, there is also an equal amount of displays of charity work from the man that can be seen on social media.

In 2021, the man lodged a police report after photos were posted on social media claiming that he was arrested by the Customs Department for allegedly being involved in drug smuggling.

He told a news portal then that he was not the one who was arrested, saying that he believed some people were out to destroy his name and reputation.
