‘We are proud to be able to offer our passengers such high On-time performance and intend to ensure that our performance is maintained, if not increased, in the coming months,’ says TransNusa chief executive officer (group aviation) Datuk Bernard Francis.

KUALA LUMPUR: TransNusa, the first Premium Service Airline in the region, has yet again set impeccable standards by registering an On-time performance of 94 per cent.

The record high On-time performance was registered for its Jakarta - Kuala Lumpur round trip flight route.

The airline introduced its Jakarta - Kuala Lumpur round trip flight route on April 14, this year. Since then, TransNusa has completed over 300 flights.

TransNusa chief executive officer (group aviation) Datuk Bernard Francis said while the airline registered an average of 94 per cent On-time performance from April to June this year, with its highest On-time performance was 98 per cent in June.

“We are proud to be able to offer our passengers such high On-time performance and intend to ensure that our performance is maintained, if not increased, in the coming months,” he said, adding that airline On-time performance is defined as an aircraft arrival at the gate under 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time.

“We understand that On-time performance is one of the most important factors for passengers in deciding their choice of airline.

“Respecting passengers time is high on our list of deliverables and to showcase our commitment towards our passengers, we have specific aircrafts dedicated to fly this route.”

On why TransNusa could not achieve a 100 per cent On-time performance, he said there were unavoidable circumstances that delayed a number of TransNusa flights.

“Our delays were consequential and unavoidable such as weather patterns and airport disruptions as well as heavy traffic. There were times when our flight was delayed because we could land due to bad weather or heavy traffic,” he explained.

In line with registering an impressive On-time performance, TransNusa will be increasing its frequency of flights for this route from two times daily to four times daily to cater for the growing demand.

Currently, the Indonesian-based airline has flights departing from the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta to the Kuala Lumpur at 7am as well as 4:50pm while in Kuala Lumpur, flights depart from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Jakarta daily at 10:40am and 8:35pm. The two new Kuala Lumpur – Jakarta route round trip flights will be scheduled to depart Jakarta at 11am and 4.10pm while in Kuala Lumpur the flights will depart at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

“The increase in flight frequency reflects our commitment to meeting the growing demand of our passengers.

“We believe the increased flexibility will greatly benefit both business and leisure travellers, providing them with more options and convenience.”

In addition to the increase in frequency, TransNusa has introduced a new campaign for Malaysia in conjunction with Malaysia’s Independence Day on August 31.

He said that in the aptly named Madani Malaysia campaign, TransNusa passengers can now purchase tickets from as low as RM249 for the Kuala Lumpur – Jakarta route, RM155 for the Jakarta – Yogyakarta route and RM215 for the Jakarta – Bali route. These low prices are applicable until August 31.

In April this year, the Malaysian-born CEO, who is also a veteran in the aviation industry, revealed a new business model for TransNusa, making the airline the first in the region, if not the world, to become a Premium Service Airline positioning itself between the full-service and low-cost airline categories.

“We reinvented ourselves as a Premium Service Airline in the international market, utilising a new business model that offers products and services that is similar to those offered by the full-fledged commercial airline offerings and is above the low-cost airlines’ products,” explained Datuk Bernard.

Apart from departing and arriving in main international terminals, TransNusa is one of the very few airlines in the world that offers a flexible refunds policy, enabling its passengers to obtain easy refunds if the passengers need to cancel flights.

Furthermore, TransNusa also offers exceptional baggage allowance to its passengers, allowing passengers to save more on every trip. For its lowest seat sale, passengers will be able to enjoy a free 15kg baggage allowance, apart from the 7kgs hand carry.

TransNusa’s seats are categorised and sold in three sections, providing passengers the flexibility of choosing which type of seats and services they would require, especially since the Kuala Lumpur - Jakarta flight route takes only takes about 2 hours 15 minutes. The three sections are named seat, seat plus and flexi pro.
