Tun Faisal to join Bersatu

PETALING JAYA: Former Putrajaya Umno deputy chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, who was sacked from the party in January, will join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

"If there is no obstacle, I will receive my membership from party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin tonight in Negri Sembilan," he said when contacted on Sunday (July 9).

On Jan 31, Tun Faisal, who is a vocal critic of Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, was sacked from the party.

Tun Faisal claimed that he was alleged to have flouted and broken many party rules, but he stopped short of elaborating further.

He, however, said that he will not appeal against the move to sack him.

Tun Faisal's termination came after the announcement of a slew of sackings of former leaders including former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and former Selangor Umno chief Tan Sri Noh Omar.

Khairy and Noh were sacked for breaching party discipline during the recent 15th General Election (GE15).
