State polls: Former Negri Perikatan chief Eddin Syazlee offers himself as candidate

SEREMBAN: Datuk Eddin Syazlee Shith has offered himself as a candidate to contest in the Negri Sembilan election although he has been dropped as state Perikatan Nasional chief.

The 49-year-old former Kuala Pilah MP from Bersatu said he could still serve the party.

"I hold no grudge against anyone.

"It does not matter if I have been replaced by my deputy president (Bersatu's Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu), I believe I can still serve.

"It is up to the party leadership to decide," he said, adding that he was also prepared to be fielded anywhere.

Eddin Syazlee said as a party man, he would accept any decision by the leadership.

"Also, I would not do anything that will have an adverse effect on my party's image," he said here on Tuesday (July 4).

Eddin Syazlee said although he was now an ordinary Bersatu member, he would help campaign for Perikatan candidates in the state election.

He was dropped as state Perikatan chief in late May.

In GE14, Eddin Syazlee contested under the Pakatan Harapan banner for the Kuala Pilah parliamentary seat and won with a razor-thin 200-vote majority.

However, he failed to defend the seat on Perikatan's ticket in GE15, losing to Barisan Nasional's Datuk Adnan Abu Hassan, who won with a majority of 6,483 votes in a five-cornered fight.

Eddin Syazlee had previously served as deputy minister in the Works Ministry, the then communications and multimedia ministry, and Prime Minister's Department.
