Kaamatan Festival in Sabah a testament to togetherness and harmony


PETALING JAYA: The Kaamatan Festival, which sees the participation of people from all ethnicities, is testament to harmony and togetherness in Sabah, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

"Happy Kaamatan to the people of Sabah who celebrate it," said the MCA president.

"Now, the traditional festival for the Kadazandusun tribe in Sabah is celebrated with great enthusiasm by all ethnic groups.

"This proves the harmony and togetherness of the people of Sabah despite having various ethnicities and tribes.

"Hopefully the unity that has been built will continue for the sake of the progress of Sabah and Malaysia," he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (May 31).

The festival, also known as Tadau Kaamatan, is a traditional annual event celebrated in Sabah on May 30 and 31, as a sign of gratitude at the end of the harvest season.
