THE action comedy film Polis Evo 3 successfully made a whopping RM1.3mil during its sneak preview on Wednesday, Astro Awani reported.

The film, produced by Astro Shaw and Skop Productions and TGV Pictures, was number one on GSC Malaysia’s Top 10 movie charts on Wednesday, beating other international films.

The film’s executive producer, Raja Jastina Raja Arshad, said the film’s sneak preview success was a good start and proved that local films were popular among cinemagoers and could compete with international films.

“We would like to thank all cinema-goers in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei for coming out to watch the film.

“Special thanks to our partners Skop Productions and TGV Pictures, the cast and crew, and everyone who contributed to the film’s success,” she said in a statement on Thursday.

She added that the Polis Evo 3 cast and crew were on a nationwide roadshow and would be meeting fans in Terengganu and Pahang from May 26 to 28; Seremban on June 2; Kedah, Penang and Perak on June 3 to 5; and Singapore, Johor, and Melaka on June 8 to 11.

The film was directed by Syafiq Yusof and stars actors Zizan Razak, Shaheizy Sam, Sharnaaz Ahmad, Nora Danish, Syafiq Kyle, Farali Khan, Douglas Lim, Fauzi Nawawi, Fezrul Khan and Eyka Farhana.

Polis Evo 3 opened in cinemas nationwide on Thursday.

> The lead singer of rock band Wings, Datuk Awie, said he is at peace with the cancellation of the band’s concert, One Night Only Wings Live in Johor Bahru, Harian Metro reported.

The band had announced on its social media page that the concert, which was supposed to take place on June 17 in Persada Johor, had been cancelled by the organiser, BMS Event.

The organiser will refund the cost of tickets in full.

“I do not want to blame anyone for this and hope we will have another concert taken on by a more serious organiser,” Awie said.

However, he was puzzled by the sudden cancellation of the concert.

“The organiser was facing some technical issues and immediately cancelled the concert. I felt like it could have been handled better,” he said.

“We were already doing well with our rehearsals for the concert. We will ensure that we use the rehearsals for our upcoming concert at the Malaysian Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS), Serdang, on June 18.”
