PORT DICKSON: A group of visitors to Pantai Saujana, 4th Mile, here had a scare when they came across a young saltwater crocodile on the beach in the early hours of Saturday (May 20) morning.

Port Dickson Civil Defence chief Captain (PA) Mohamad Azri Abu Hassan told Astro Awani that the crocodile was succesfully caught at 1.55am Saturday.

"The district operations control room received a distress call about the crocodile on the beach at 1.29am.

"About half an hour later, the crocodile, which is believed to have been lost, was succesfully captured by the operations team," he told Astro Awani.

Capt Azri added that the young crocodile, weighing about 800g, was caught using special tools.

He added that it was housed in a temporary cage before being handed over to officers from the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan).
