Over 2,300 Civil Defence personnel deployed nationwide for Aidilfitri travel safety

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 2,364 personnel of the Civil Defence Force (APM), supported by 650 logistical assets, have been deployed nationwide to carry out patrols, provide emergency assistance and support road users during the Aidilfitri festive period.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the operation, dubbed Ops Prihatin 2026, was implemented to help ensure smoother and safer journeys for Malaysians returning to their hometowns.

"As the Cabinet Committee on Road Safety and Traffic Congestion chairman, I urge all motorists to drive responsibly, adhere to traffic regulations and ensure their vehicles are in good condition before setting out," he posted on Facebook on Wednesday (March 18).

At the same time, Ahmad Zahid also advised the public to remain alert to weather conditions and heed official instructions, as the Meteorological Department has forecast rain in several areas throughout the festive season.

He stressed that safety must remain a priority, adding that he hoped all travellers would have a smooth journey, reach their destinations safely and return home safely to their loved ones. - Bernama
