Cops nab Bagan Serai man for posting racist statements on social media


PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a man in Perak for allegedly uploading racist posts on social media.

Police secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin, in a statement on Tuesday (May 9), said that the 33-year-old man was arrested in Bagan Serai, Perak on May 8 after uploading two posts.

"The police have also seized a handphone and a sim card belonging to the suspect," she said, adding that investigations were being conducted by the Special Investigation Unit (USJT) under the Sedition Act 1948, Penal Code and Communications and Multimedia Act.

"A remand order has been granted, with the suspect remanded until May 11," DCP Noorsiah added.
