State polls: Perikatan almost done with seat allocation talks, says Hamzah

LARUT: Talks on seat distribution among Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties for the six state elections due this year are almost completed with only three or four seats left to be resolved, says Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

"We have held many meetings. InsyaAllah, only three or four seats need further discussions,” the Perikatan secretary-general told reporters at the Larut parliamentary constituency Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house here Sunday (May 7).

Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan must hold elections this year because they did not hold their state polls together with last year’s 15th General Election.

Asked on PN’s chances in the coming state polls, Hamzah, who is Larut MP, said the coalition’s performance would depend on the people’s perception.

Hamzah, who is also Bersatu secretary-general, said the party’s 2023 elections would be held after the six state polls. - Bernama
