PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Employers Federation congratulates all employees for their contributions to businesses and the nation in celebration of Labour Day this coming Monday (May 1).

President Datuk Dr Syed Hussain Syed Husman also reminded employers that they must provide a safe and healthy workplace for employees at all times.

"We must ensure our employees are well-trained and skilled to do their jobs. We must ensure that the salary and benefits are in line with the market rates and the risks, responsibility and accountability of the jobs.

"Employers must have the discipline and order to establish fair and responsible workplace practices as there should be no discrimination at the workplace," he said in a statement Saturday (April 29).

Syed Hussain said employees were expected to follow the requirements of the organisation where they work as it is imperative that industrial peace and harmony be maintained to enable the nation to progress.

"In this regard, MEF thanks the employees and their trade unions for the understanding and cooperation displayed during the challenging times due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Employees, employers and the government must work together to give their best for any given task. Together we can better build businesses, the nation and build Malaysia Madani," he added.
